Feeling constantly drained and low on energy? Fatigue is a common issue affecting millions of people due to stress, poor diet, lack of sleep, or underlying health conditions. While lifestyle changes like proper nutrition, hydration, and sleep are essential, the right supplements can provide the extra boost you need.

When choosing supplements, make sure to look for those that are free from fillers, additives, colourings and artificial sweeteners. Here is a list of the best supplements with pure ingredients to help you fight fatigue and feel more energized!

1. Magnesium

What is it?: Magnesium, an essential mineral involved in over 300 biochemical reactions in the body, including energy production and muscle function. It plays a key role in ATP (adenosine triphosphate) production, the primary energy currency of the body.

Why it matters for energy: A lack of magnesium can lead to muscle weakness, poor sleep quality, and increased stress levels, all of which contribute to chronic fatigue.

Benefits:

  • Supports ATP (energy) production
  • Improves sleep quality and relaxation
  • Helps reduce muscle cramps and tension
  • Aids in nervous system function and stress reduction

The supplement: Vimergy, Magnesium glycinate

  • Vegan
  • Gluten-free

Supplement facts per 1 capsule: 310mg magnesium glycinate, 10mg organic ginger root, 10mg organic turmeric rhizome
Other ingredients: cellulose, vegetarian capsule (cellulose, water)

Vimergy uses magnesium glycinate, which has superior absorption and has been clinically tested to cause less tummy upsets compared to other magnesium supplements that contain magnesium oxide or citrate. This supplement also comes with the added benefits of ginger and turmeric. The capsule is vegan, with no added gelling agents like carrageenan, fillers or binders. They can also be opened up and added to smoothies.

2. 5-MTHF (Methylfolate)

What is it?: 5-MTHF is the biologically active form of folate (vitamin B9) that the body can readily use. Unlike synthetic folic acid, which must undergo several conversion steps, 5-MTHF is immediately available for critical functions such as DNA synthesis, methylation, and neurotransmitter production. Some individuals have a genetic mutation (MTHFR variation) that hinders their ability to convert folic acid into its usable form, making 5-MTHF a better option.

Why it matters for energy: A folate deficiency can lead to anemia, impaired DNA synthesis, and brain fog, all of which contribute to low energy levels. Folate is also necessary for the production of neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, which regulate mood and motivation.

Benefits:

  • Aids in cardiovascular health by lowering homocysteine levels
  • Supports red blood cell production
  • Enhances mental clarity and cognitive function
  • Helps in the production of neurotransmitters for mood balance

The supplement: Vimergy, 5-MTHF

  • Vegan
  • Gluten-free

Supplement facts per 1 capsule: 8500mcg folate DFE, 500mcg vitamin B12
Other ingredients: vegetable cellulose (capsule), cellulose

This formula has added B12, which helps in the synthesis of neurotransmitters, promoting brain health, cognitive function and a balanced mood. As with all Vimergy supplements, their products contain no unnecessary gelling agents, colours or additives.

3. Vitamin B

What is it?: Vitamin B refers to a group of water-soluble vitamins, including B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine), B7 (biotin), B9 (folate), and B12 (cobalamin). These vitamins play essential roles in energy production, brain function, and red blood cell formation.

Why it matters for energy: Deficiencies in B vitamins, particularly B12 and B6, can lead to anemia, neurological issues, and poor energy metabolism. Since B vitamins are involved in converting food into usable energy, a lack of these nutrients can result in persistent tiredness and weakness.

Benefits:

  • Supports energy metabolism
  • Aids in red blood cell production
  • Promotes brain health and memory function
  • Helps reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety

The supplement: Vimergy, Adapto B-Complex

  • Vegan
  • Gluten-free

Supplement facts per 1 capsule: 60mg Thiamin (vitamin B1), 11mg Riboflavin (vitamin B2), 50mg Niacin, 20mg Vitamin B6, 850mcg DFE Folate, 1000mcg Vitamin B12, 400mcg Biotin, 60mg Pantothenic acid, 200mg rhodiola root extract, 50mg hawthorn berry fruit
Other ingredients: hypromellose (vegetable capsule) organic potato starch

This supplement is a blend of 8 B vitamins, including B9 as L-methyl folate and B12 as the naturally occurring methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin, which is more easily absorbed by the body. Added adaptogens like rhodiola and hawthorn berry also help with energy and cognitive function.

4. Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10)

What is it?: CoQ10 is a powerful antioxidant that helps generate energy in the mitochondria of cells. It is naturally produced by the body, but levels decline with age and certain medical conditions.

Why it matters for energy: Low CoQ10 levels, especially in older adults or those taking statins (medications used to lower cholesterol), can lead to decreased energy production and muscle fatigue. Since CoQ10 is involved in cellular respiration, its deficiency results in sluggish mitochondria, impacting energy output.

Benefits:

  • Boosts cellular energy production
  • Supports cardiovascular health
  • Helps reduce oxidative stress
  • May improve exercise performance and muscle recovery

The supplement: Vimergy, Brain Body Recharge

  • Vegan
  • Gluten-free

Supplement facts for 1ml (1 dropperful): 45mg CoQ10, 25 mcg vitamin D, 180mcg vitamin K2
Other ingredients: organic coconut MCT oil

This CoQ10 blend has added vitamin K2 and D3 to help with improved cell function and mitochondrial energy production. This supplement is in tincture form, and is designed to be fast-absorbing, using a vegan form of Vitamin D3 from lichen and the bioavailable MK-7 form of Vitamin K2.

5. Vitamin C

What is it?: Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is a potent antioxidant necessary for immune function, collagen production, and iron absorption.

Why it matters for energy: A deficiency in vitamin C can lead to weakened immunity, slow wound healing, and increased oxidative stress and inflammation, all contributing to fatigue. It is also crucial for adrenal function, helping to regulate stress hormones.

Benefits:

  • Supports collagen production for healthy skin and joints
  • Boosts immune function
  • Enhances iron absorption (preventing anemia-related fatigue)
  • Fights oxidative stress

The supplement: Vimergy, Micro-C

  • Vegan
  • Gluten-free

Supplement facts per 1 capsule: 500mg vitamin C, 30mg calcium (calcium ascorbate), 34mg magnesium (magnesium ascorbate), 25mg rutin, 25mg grape seed extract, 10mg rose hips fruit powder, 10mg acerola fruit extract
Other ingredients: vegetarian capsule (cellulose, water), cellulose

This supplement contains buffered vitamin C that is lower in acidity and easier on the stomach. This unique blend also contains a powerhouse of antioxidants with the added skin-boosting ingredients, such as grape seed extract, rose hips and acerola.

One thing to note is that most vitamin C brands out there have 1000mg of vitamin C contained in a 2.4cm capsule. Vimergy’s capsule is also the same size but with 500mg of product instead. This is likely due to the added antioxidant blend taking up extra volume. If you are someone who dislikes swallowing pills, you can consider the powdered version of their vitamin C instead.

6. Omega-3 Fatty Acids

What is it?: Omega-3s are essential fatty acids crucial for brain function, heart health, and reducing inflammation.

Why it matters for energy: Low levels of omega-3s can contribute to brain fog, poor mood, and increased inflammation, which can drain energy levels. Since omega-3s are necessary for neuronal function, their deficiency can also affect cognitive performance.

Benefits:

  • May support joint health and reduce stiffness
  • Supports cognitive function and mood
  • Reduces inflammation in the body
  • Helps maintain heart health

The supplement: Vimergy, Vegan EPA/DHA

  • Vegan
  • Gluten-free

Supplement facts per 1 capsule: 13.6mg vitamin E, 1360mg algae oil (providing 326mg DHA, 163mg EPA)
Other ingredients: capsule (cellulose), high oleic sunflower oil, rosemary extract, sunflower lecithin, ascorbyl palmitate

This vegan source of EPA/DHA obtained from algae is a great alternative for vegans and vegetarians who can’t consume fish. Despite not being derived from fish, I must say that these still have a very strong “fishy” smell, so will only recommend it for those who can tolerate it!

7. Ashwagandha

What is it?: Ashwagandha is an adaptogenic herb that helps the body cope with stress and improve resilience to fatigue. It has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries to support overall vitality and adrenal function. Studies have demonstrated that ashwagandha supplementation significantly reduces stress and fatigue levels in chronically stressed individuals.

Benefits:

  • Helps with anxiety and promotes mental clarity
  • Reduces cortisol (stress hormone) levels
  • Enhances stamina and endurance
  • Supports adrenal function for sustained energy

The supplement: Vimergy, Ashwagandha

  • Gluten-free
  • Vegan
  • Organic
  • Alcohol-free
IMG 5524
IMG 5535

Supplement facts for 2 ml (2 dropperful): 220mg ashwagandha
Other ingredients: Organic glycerin (flax), purified water, organic lemon juice

All of Vimergy’s tinctures contain zero alcohol, which is great for people who avoid it, since most herb tinctures in the market contain alcohol. Alcohol nullifies the herb’s beneficial elements, which is what we do not want.

Ashwagandha is the first adaptogen I’ve ever tried when when dealing with fatigue and autoimmune disease years back and I must say it made a massive difference, with increased energy and alertness. I have tried other brands of ashwagandha in powder form and it was crazy bitter and hard to eat, with the taste being really hard to mask in drinks.

This tincture from Vimergy is much more convenient to consume, simply drop it directly into your mouth! It is not bitter and quite palatable, especially with the organic lemon. The newer formulation, Ulti-Ashwagandha, is even more palatable than the original formulation with not a trace of bitterness. The downside is that it is very viscous and product tends to clump together and requires vigorous shaking of the bottle.

8. Reishi

What is it?: Reishi is a medicinal mushroom known for its calming and immune-boosting properties. It has been used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for centuries to replenish Qi, support longevity and reduce stress. Research suggests that reishi mushrooms have anti-fatigue properties by improving oxygen utilization and reducing inflammation.

Benefits:

  • Supports immune function
  • Helps manage stress-related fatigue
  • Promotes relaxation and better sleep
  • May enhance liver function and detoxification

The supplement: Vimergy, Reishi Mushroom Extract Powder

  • Gluten-free
  • Vegan
  • Organic

Supplement facts per 1/2 tsp (1.5g): 1.5g reishi mushroom extract

This comes in the form of a powder, which you can make into plain reishi tea, or add to other drinks like a mug of cocoa or chaga. This drink is on the earthy and bitter side, so tastes best with some honey or maple syrup.

This is the second adaptogen I’ve tried after ashwagandha and it definitely helps with energy. When struggling with autoimmune disease, I was frequently breathless even walking short distances like the car to my home. Reishi definitely helped with the breathlessness and overall energy by strengthening Qi.
