Mary’s Gone Crackers is a brand of organic, gluten-free, and non-GMO snacks founded by Mary Waldner.
While working as a psychologist in the Bay area, Waldner was diagnosed with celiac disease at the age of 43. She then decided to create healthy, gluten-free snack crackers at home. As it turned out, everyone loved her snacks and she was encouraged to start her own business, and the rest was history 😎
Her products are minimally processed, using only non-GMO ingredients that are consciously and sustainably sourced. All of their products are also from gluten, dairy, eggs and nuts and baked in a dedicated gluten-free facility.
Their range includes a variety of seed-based crackers, gluten-free flour blend crackers and cookies that come in a variety of flavours like honey, cinnamon and chocolate for the cookies and black pepper, rosemary, basil and garlic, black sesame and jalapeno(!) for the crackers.
Cheddar
These crackers remind me of Ritz crackers. Although definitely not the same in terms of texture – Ritz is a little more airy and this is more dense and crunchy; the savouriness of the cracker just reminds me of a Ritz.
The flavour of the cheese in this Cheddar flavour is mild, and I can see how it may not satisfy a dairy-eater as real cheddar is more sharp and robust. As a vegan cracker, I think the taste is pretty good and it does definitely satisfy a savoury craving for me.
I would describe this as a slightly salty and umami cracker. Overall still a good product that can get really addictive since I finished a whole box by myself 😅
Cheese and Herb
This Cheese and Herb one has a slightly less “cheesy” flavour compared to the Cheddar, with a hint of rosemary. So if you’re a cheese lover and looking for something cheesy, I wouldn’t recommend you get this one. Go for the Cheddar instead 😊
If you’re a herb lover and expecting strong herb-ey flavour, this is not it either. The rosemary taste is subtle. This would be for someone who’s looking for a savoury cracker with a hint of herb. I also see this cracker working well with dips or as croutons, crumbled on top of a soup or a salad 😋
