Hu is a New York-based company owned by family members Jordan Brown, Jason Karp, and Jessica Karp. The company was founded with a clear mission: to bring together simple ingredients and unbeatable taste while making a positive impact beyond the kitchen.

As a proud Fairtrade partner, Hu sources 100% of its cocoa, coconut sugar, cashews, vanilla, and quinoa on Fairtrade terms, crafting delicious treats that also support the farmers behind them.

This brand is excellent in that they also use simple and clean, organic ingredients sans any cane sugar, erythritol, palm oil, lecithin and emulsifiers, which is pretty hard to find nowadays!

Salty Dark Chocolate

Ingredients: Organic cacao, organic unrefined coconut sugar, organic cocoa butter, sea salt

Their dark chocolate bar contains 70% cacao, which I personally find is the best percentage for dark chocolate, giving it a deep cocoa flavour without being overly sweet or bitter.

This bar contains salt crystals throughout, which gives a nice burst of salty flavour and textural crunch when you bite into the chocolate. The flavour of this chocolate bar is also nice and intense.

Notes wise, this chocolate has mixed earthy and nutty notes. Although my favourite kind of chocolate are those with fruity notes, I still think that this tasted quite good with the nutty notes being more prominent than the earthy ones.

Hazelnut Butter Dark Chocolate

Ingredients: Organic cacao, organic unrefined coconut sugar, organic hazelnut, organic cocoa butter

The Hazelnut butter dark chocolate bar uses the same 70% dark chocolate sans the salt, with the middle layer being a layer of smooth hazelnut butter.

This chocolate bar was absolutely divine! 😍 The hazelnut butter was fragrant and nutty, and when paired together with dark chocolate, made the best combination ever!

The picture above shows the bar when taken right out of the fridge, so the middle layer is relatively hard. After a couple of minutes, the hazelnut butter does soften and become more buttery, if that is what you prefer. The ratio of the outer shell to filling is also ideal, and the sweetness just right, not too sweet at all!

If you are a nut butter lover, you would be pleased to know that they also offer other nut butter varieties such as almond butter and casher butter!
