This restaurant is a true gem and one of the best food I’ve eaten in Tokyo! They serve organic and vegan food, centred around brown rice, seasonal produce and soy beans.

The decor of this place is as thoughtful and intricate as the food itself. As you enter, you walk through a narrow walkway lined with willowy bushes leading to the entrance. The entrance is beautifully decorated with plants that change colours as the season changes.

The interior consists mainly of warm, brown wood tones which gives a comforting and homely vibe.

The brown rice used here is sourced from Sakusaku city from Toyama prefecture, where rice is grown specially without pesticides or herbicides and known for their fluffy and soft texture.

Tangerine juice (+¥500) and Iced tea (+¥400)

For drinks, we ordered the tangerine juice and iced tea.

The tangerine juice I must say, was absolutely divine! I’m not sure why but this juice was not anything l have ever tasted before! It was so refreshing and sweet, with subtle floral undertones, and tastes somewhat like a hybrid between an orange and a yuzu!

The iced tea was like any other regular iced tea though. I liked that they gave a little jar of syrup so that you could adjust the sweetness of the tea to your liking.

Appetizers included in set meal – Fresh salad of tomatoes and corn, Mashed pumpkin

For mains, we ordered the Bamboo Basket Steamed Vegetable Set and the Seasonal Vegetable Curry and Rice set, both of which came with appetizers.

There are 3 only sets on the menu, the third one being the Seasonal Set Menu, which had Tofu Cutlet as the seasonal special.

For all my fellow GF friends, the only gluten-free set on the menu is the Curry Rice. If you are dining with friends, I guess you could steal some of their steamed veggies, but the dipping sauces and miso soup would contain gluten.

Bamboo Basket Steamed Vegetable Set – ¥2700

The Bamboo Basket features 10 different seasonal veggies steamed in a bamboo basket, accompanied with 2 dipping sauces (sesame and shoyu), brown rice, small side salad with pickles, and miso soup.

My partner literally said “wow” when he bit into the veggies. They were so incredibly fresh! Plus the fact that a dish prepared so simply could taste so good, it was an absolute flavour revelation!

Seasonal Vegetable Curry and RIce Set (GF) – ¥2400

This curry rice features seasonal veggies on brown rice, with a side of fresh salad and pickled cucumbers.

The curry is made from scratch using tomatoes and onions, slowly stir-fried then simmered with an original blend of spices.

This dish was simple yet comforting, and the flavours of tomatoes and cumin came through nicely in this one.

Seasonal Fruit Tart – ¥1400

The seasonal fruit tart is the star of the day, and has got to be the best fruit tart I’ve ever eaten!

Muscat grapes aside – we all know how good that tastes, the custard cream had amazing flavour with hints of vanilla and maple that was rich and creamy. Incredible!

The crust was equally good, so buttery and fragrant with that right amount of crisp as well.

All desserts on the menu are gluten, dairy, egg and white sugar free! Triple thumbs-up for being SuperfoodFreaks-friendly! 😄
