Chateraise

  • Gluten, dairy and egg-free options

Yup you saw right! Chateraise has an allergy-friendly cake that you can eat ๐Ÿคฉ

They have a wheat, dairy and egg-free version of their legendary strawberry cream cake ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿ“ This cake uses soy cream instead of milk, and rice flour instead of wheat flour. All cakes are also allergy-tested before shipment to ensure that its safe for those who may be allergic.

Please note that the cake contains gelatin and is hence not plant-based or vegan.

This cake is sold frozen, so it will require 1 to 1.5 hours of thawing before serving. Strawberries will also be packed separately to avoid cross-contamination, so you will need to arrange them on the cake yourself.

If you do not want to purchase a whole cake but just require a slice, they also sell an allergy-friendly shortcake by the slice. Similarly, it is sold frozen and will require some thawing before serving.

They have many outlets located all over Singapore so its pretty convenient to preorder online and arrange for a pick-up at any of their locations.

The Clean Addicts

  • Plant-based
  • Gluten-free options
  • Nut-free options
  • Soy-free options

The cakes from The Clean Addicts are one of the first gluten-free, plant-based cakes I’ve tried and remain one of my favourite cakes to date.

They make healthy cakes from whole food ingredients, and are free from artificial flavourings, colourings, preservatives or refined flours. All of their cakes do not contain any eggs or dairy, and most can be customised to be gluten-free for an additional fee.

Seasonal offering – Earl grey christmas log cake

Their cakes are generally all on the denser side texture-wise, since they use ingredients like beans and dense flours like oat and glutinous rice flour. So this place is great for those who love a rich and decadent cake. Their chocolate cakes also leanย  very dark, great for any dark chocolate lovers.

They also sell muffins should you prefer to get them instead of a whole cake. Do also keep a lookout for their Christmas cake offerings. I’ve bought their log cakes twice and they are absolutely divine ๐Ÿ˜

For vegans or anyone allergic to dairy, please note that the chocolate they use may contain traces of dairy.

  • Gluten-free options

Kind Kones serves all-natural ice cream and desserts that are plant-based and free from any preservatives and artificial additives like emulsifiers or stabilisers. Their products are flavoured naturally from simple, whole food ingredients, so nothing fake here in any of their products.

For celebratory cakes, they used to offer ice cream cakes as well as their Dark Chocolate Ganache cake as whole cake options, but not anymore. Currently, the only whole cake options are their Flourless Sweet Potato Brownie, and the Midnight Grand Chocolate Cake from Roa.

Slice of sweet potato brownie. Ganache looks wet due to uneven heating in microwave.

Their brownies are really delicious, with a deep chocolatey flavour and fudgey texture. The brownie itself is not too sweet, and complements the ganache layer really well.ย  It also tastes really good heated up, enjoyed together with ice cream. So if you intend to order this, do add some ice cream to your order, you won’t regret it!

Should you prefer to get individual cake slices or muffins, they also have options from their own house-made selection, or from brands like Locaba or Roa.

Sweedy

  • Vegan option
  • Gluten-free option

Sweedy is a patisserie that specialises in making Fatcarons (extra fat macarons ๐Ÿ˜„) and durian cakes. They have a fabulous vegan Mao Shan Wang Mousse cake that can be requested to be done gluten-free! Sadly, that is the only item on the menu that is gluten-free and vegan. The Fatcarons cannot be done vegan or gluten-free ๐Ÿฅฒ

I have bought this durian mousse cake twice and I must say that it is very good. It has passed the judgement of my non-vegan and gluten-free friends and family, whom have all exclaimed how surprised they were on how good it was.

The cream is delightfully light and fluffy, the cake layer is tender and not dry, and the durian puree has lots of good chunky pieces of durian bites which is very satisfying.

Their Floral Grand Dark Chocolate Cake especially, with its delicately hand-piped flowers, is sure to captivate with its elegance and beauty ๐Ÿ’

Their cakes are made without any animal products and are allergy-friendly. However for vegans and those with a dairy allergy, please take note that the chocolate they use may contain traces of dairy as they are manufactured in a facility that handles other dairy chocolates.

My cake recommendations from ROA would be their Chocolat Gateaux Mousse Cake. This might be unpopular opinion but I like it better than the Grand Dark Chocolate cake that they’re famous for. They do an excellent ganache that is rich and smooth, but the cake itselfย  is just a tad too dry and bitter for my liking.

The Gateaux Mousse cake on the other hand, has a chocolate mousse that is dark, creamy and velvety, layered with ganache, a light chocolate sponge and an addictive crunchy chocolate base layer that reminds me of feuilletine in French desserts ๐Ÿ˜

Both of their cakes also come in cupcake and mini cupcake forms should you prefer that instead. Very handy for catering for different kinds of celebrations.

For celebratory cakes, they have an Acai Celebration Cake that is a hybrid between an acai cup and a fruit tart! Made up of a tart base topped with organic acai and an assortment of tropical fruits, this “cake” is definitely one for an acai lover ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿ“

The cake is sold frozen, so will require about 15-30 minutes of thawing before it can be served. It also comes with complimentary chia pudding, granola and macadamia nut butter to be enjoyed together.

25Grams Bakery

  • Vegan options
  • Gluten-free options

25Grams Bakery is a bespoke cake shop that does customised cakes and cupcakes. Their interesting name arose from its humble beginnings when the owner, a Le Cordon Bleu graduate, began selling mini cupcakes that weighed 25 grams before frosting.

Aside from cakes, they also sell cupcakes, mini cupcakes and cookies.

Image credit: 25Grams Bakery | GF and Vegan Vanilla Cake

Currently, there are 4 different gluten-free and vegan cakes on their non-custom bakes menu. They even have an interesting DIY cake decorating kit, if you wish to decorate the cake yourself!

An interesting offering that 25Grams Bakery has over other cake shops is the customizability of their cakes. From a base of either vanilla or chocolate sponge cake, you can choose from a wide range of frosting flavours such as basic ones like vanilla and chocolate, or fruity flavours like passionfruit, mango, strawberry, or even coffee. So take your pick!

I have ordered their cake once and can say that their cake has passed the tastebuds of non gluten-free and vegan people ๐Ÿ˜… It was the Lychee Rose cake, but it seems they currently do not offer it vegan and gluten-free anymore.

For gluten-free vegan options, sadly they do not have any circular celebratory cakes here. They have instead, 2 loaf cakes, a fruity one and a chocolate one, which they also offer in muffin form.
ย
The bakes at The Whole Kitchen are generally low in sugar, and I personally do not find them sweet enough. Hence will not recommend these to someone who really likes sweet stuff. Conversely, these cakes might appeal to someone who actually prefer their cakes less sweet.

Cake Botanica

  • Raw, Vegan and Gluten-free cake shop

Cake Botanica is an online cake shop that sells cakes that are 100% raw, vegan and gluten-free. If you are into raw vegan food, then this is one of the 2 shops in Singapore that sell whole celebratory cakes raw.

Their cakes do not contain any refined sugar, and everything is naturally sweetened with fruits, dates, maple syrup or coconut sap. With the ethos of raw vegan diet, which is eating food in its natural, unprocessed state, you will definitely not find any kind ofย  manufactured flavourings, colourings or additives in any of their cakes.

They have a good selection of very aesthetically decorated cakes, ranging from fruity flavours to chocolate, coffee and caramel ones.

Dark Chocolate and Cherries
I have tried their cake (Dark Chocolate and Cherries) once and enjoyed it. The cake was really special with layers of cocoa brownie base, cherry vanilla cream, cherry jam and cocoa ganache. My family members however, did not like the cake to my surprise ๐Ÿ˜… I have now come to a conclusion that raw vegan cakes are not for everyone, and you must definitely consider the crowd you’re feeding before buying.
Raw vegan cakes are different texture-wise, no typical cake sponge but instead, a dense “cake” layer similar to an energy ball, with layers of frozen creamy nut or coconut creams. Flavours will generally be more “mild” in my opinion as there is no heat involved to concentrate or thicken flavours from fruit etc. So if your crowd is into healthy eating, you should be safe. For “normal” eaters who are not gluten-free or vegan, this might not suit their tastebuds.
Another thing to note, please make sure to order at least 2 weeks in advance. The owner has stated this in her “FAQ” page but not everyone will read it, and I was declined once due to this.

They also offer a good variety of cake sizes, ranging from 4 inches, 5 inches, 6 inches to 8 inches. Good flexibility for catering to different party sizes.
